Delving Into the Purposefulness of Life
Authored by: Sean

All around us, there are plenty of websites, gurus, friends and books exhorting us to live life with purpose. Have a goal, they say. Time is not for wasting, they say. They also say that living a life of consciousness/consciously is the only way to live. Well, I can tell you with some practical experience that it is not always easy! Can you imagine spending all your time intensely and completely focused on your goals? Being conscious about every little action and thought of yours?

And then there are the other websites, gurus, friends and books who also talk about “giving up” or giving in to a higher power. Just Be, they say. Let go control, they say. Life will happen, so why be obsessed with goals, the stresses and strains of trying and so on. So which path does one follow? Perhaps the middle path, where there is a distinct balance between purposefulness and making time to sit back and relax? After all, all of us have only a limited time at our disposal every day is it not? So why not enjoy things and work hard every day?

What a waste of space and time it would be if a person simply sat in the middle of a road and waited for the road to move and take him somewhere special! Why not take the steps yourself? Enjoying constructive use of time is certainly the better way to live. Of course, how you construct this time is up to you. Work, play, live, love and being involved can be such fabulous ways to spend time this year! So yes, read both the kinds of websites and follow the dictates of both sides of the coin, so to speak. At the end of the day, it should really be all about being useful to yourself and the others around you.
