Machinery Rules It All
Authored by: Monica

Come to think of it, everything in this universe has some kind of machinery that keeps it going isn’t it? Whether it is flesh and blood for an animal or gears and cogs for a machine – there is a finite number of systems that come together in perfect harmony to keep a body in ideal working condition. This leads us to the reason why we are waxing eloquent on machines and man – the very interesting theme of this year’s Met Gala – “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an age of Technology”.

And were there some magnificent machines at work! The long line of celebrities celebrated this theme in so many different ways. For us at DiscountShop.com, fashion and technology come together in our many, many wristwatches but we thought we could take it one step further and give you a collection that celebrated the celebrities at the event as well.

The list has to start with Beyoncé and her nude latex Givenchy gown. After her latest album, Lemonade, she looked like a tall, cool drink herself. The Michael Kors Women’s Delray  MK4322  has the same glitter and glamor combination.

Taylor Swift chose to go with a Louis Vuitton silver sequin number. We loved the black and glitter combination of the Jivago Women’s Via JV3610 for this. And the little loop on the straps looks similar to Swift’s strappy footwear.

Silver metallic accents were a pretty popular choice – Kim Kardashian and Kanye West showed they could do a power-packed couples ensemble here. Kylie Jenner and Cindy Crawford also rocked this look. So the shine and style of the Seiko Lord SUR809P1 is a perfect addition to this list.

Emma Watson made an eco-statement with her recycled-from-plastic gown created by Calvin Klein and Eco Age. Her black and white ensemble and plastic finds an echo in the rather sweet looking Boum BM2901 Rendezvous Ladies Watch BOUBM2901.

Claire Danes shone – literally – thanks to her Zac Posen gown that glowed and shimmered with an ethereal, fairy tale like quality. For the right touch of starry splendor, turn to the Omega Constellation 12315352052001.

Cavalli Couture draped Naomi Campbell who wore a stunning black, silk, sequined affair. We loved the looks of the Sophie and Freda SF2502 New York Ladies Watch SAFSF2502 for this combination.

Lupita Nyong’o went with a very unusual seafoam green Calvin Klein gown that caught the lights perfectly. The froth capped waves and green can be found in the Boum BM2405 Serpent Ladies Watch BOUBM2405.

Maria Sharapova went completely, unrelentingly, flamingly red. Her gown was designed by Juan Carlos Obando. For a completely red watch, check out the Crayo CR0605 Balloon Ladies Watch CRACR0605.

Solid color was the choice for Solange as well. She went with yellow by David Laport. The totally yellow Nixon Dash A168 Goldenrad A168-639 is the watch to wear when you want to go citrine too.

Zendaya draped herself in a gold mesh gown by Michael Kors. The gorgeous looking Swatch Irony YCG410GB will drape your wrist like it belongs there.

The fact that the Met Gala 2016 brought together Jonathan Ive and Taylor Swift and Idris Elba together is proof enough of the blending of boundaries between fashion and tech. So all you have to do is to shop to your heart’s content on our website and find the watches that represent this seamlessness for you.
