In the magnificent world of wristwatches there are denizens of the deep. They inhabit a world that is sparsely populated. They tick where no watch has been before. Some of them have a price tag that will take a while to read through. Some of them are priceless. There are plenty of watches that can be bought like you buy your groceries. But on the other end of the spectrum – now that’s a world that is open to only very few shoppers or should we say aficionados?

Niche marketing – the term implies a sense of exclusivity, luxury and limited number of goods. There are watches which are soaked in diamonds, platinum and other rare metals. So obviously they will be supremely expensive. There are also the ‘usual suspects’ – Rolex, Patek Phillipe and Jaeger LeCoultre. But here’s our list of watches which are extravagantly exclusive.

The Richard Mille RM 027 Nadal Tourbillon Carbon Skeletonized is not substantial in its weight – just 20 grams or 0.0440925 pounds. This is exactly why super-champ Rafael Nadal wears it on court while he plays his uncompromising tennis game. Richard Mille produced only 50 of these watches.

Trust MB&F to get inspired by a rare Costa Rican tree frog to create their absolutely unique HM3 watch! Spherical Sapphire crystal domes and hand finished details which use the Jean-Marc Wiederrecht engine make this watch distinctive in more ways than one. There are only 10 pieces of this watch that have been created by the maker.

You have to precede the name of this watch with “The” – it is a creation by Franck Muller and THE Aeternitas Mega 4 has an amazing array of numbers attached to it – 36 complications, 99 jewels and 1483 components. No wonder then that this watch is now ‘The Most Complicated Wristwatch Ever Made In The World.’

Diesel is a brand that has always pushed the envelope when it comes to the design of its watches. Even as companies collaborate with well-known celebrities to produce limited edition watches, Diesel enlisted the help of a tattoo artist who goes by the iconic name of Mr.Cartoon. One of the results was the Diesel Limited Edition Mister Cartoon DZMC0002. The time to be brave is now!

The next watch on our list reflects the Majestic air that it has! The Palace by Jean Dunand is watch architecture at its best. In this royal abode reign a flying tourbillon, a GMT hand placed on a revolving linear style hand and inspirations from magnificent sources such as the Art Deco movement and even monuments such as the Eiffel Tower.

When 3 watchmakers come together to produce one watch, you know you have a good thing going. The Maîtres du Temps Chapter One brought together the brains and hearts of Peter Speake-Marin, Christophe Claret and Roger Dubuis. 558 components have gone into making this watch the only one of its kind which has a mono-pusher column with a tourbillon. Stellar elegance is another defining feature of this creation.
