Watches With The License To Thrill
Authored by: Monica

There are so many phrases, lines, dialogues and looks that made the super spy famous and delectably notorious. Martinis that have to be ‘shaken, not stirred’, the list of things he did for England and his fabulous relationships with ‘M’ and Miss Moneypenny, not to mention the legion of Bond girls. Indeed, we have come under the spell, yet again of 007 and the ‘Spectre’ is causing us to be giddy about gadgets.

Just a while ago, I read about some of the cars that Bond made famous and could not help but wonder about giving you a list of watches that resemble these cars in some way or the other. You could also check out the watches that Bond wore.

The Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible in Dr.No was all about gleaming black and silver. The handsome Tissot Men’s Bridgeport T0974101105800 reflects this combination.

The Toyota 2000GT Roadster is a rare machine and featured in the movie, ‘You Only Live Twice’. This car was all about the Bond girl who drove it and its lustrous creamy-pearly finish! Going with that look, we give you the Michael Kors Women’s Mini Parker MK5842.

Muscular beauty at its best was embodied by the 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 in ‘Diamonds Are Forever’. The red was distinctive and so was the black and red leather interior. The Jivago Men’s Gliese JV1514 is spectacular also because it offers red stitching on the strap.

Next we move to the Aston Martin. This is one combination – Aston Martin and James Bond that has been woven into the warp and weft of legendary Hollywood relationships! The romance began in 1959 when Ian Fleming wrote about Bond driving an Aston Martin DBIII in his novel ‘Goldfinger’. Sean Connery gave us the car and the relationship to love!

Since then a rather long list of Bond movies have featured this car – ‘Living Daylights’, ‘Die Another Day’, ‘Casino Royale’, ‘Quantum Of Solace’, ‘Skyfall’ and now ‘Spectre’ ( to name just a few movies). Who says relationships don’t last long in Bollywood? So which watch can we choose to symbolize the Aston Martin? How about the Hamilton Pilot Day Date H64615155?

‘For Your Eyes Only’ has two cars to offer on this list. One is the Lotus Turbo Esprit and the other the Citroen 2CV. The Esprit came in a lovely coppery finish and there was another one with a white finish. Roger Moore even piloted the Wet Nellie which was a sub shaped like the Esprit. White and brown come together deliciously in the Omega Les Classiques 42458332055001.

The Citroen 2CV is such an unassuming looking car. One would not associate this with the verve and dash of a Bond movie! This little yellow car shows immense heart and a spirit that gets stronger and stronger even when it is hurtled at top speeds. The circle of yellow on the Casio Sports MRW200HC-2B is great and so is the tough watch it belongs to.

Only Pierce Brosnan could drive a tank – a T-55M5 Tank to be precise – and drive it through St.Petersburg. He did this in ‘Goldeneye’ and oh what a thrilling chase that was! The Fossil Machine FS4931 does look like a juggernaut that will simply have its way in style.

A lake blue car – the Sunbeam Alpine Series II is the pioneer of it all since it was the first Bond car to make a debut on screen, way back in 1962 with ‘Dr.No’. And you cannot say no to the Seiko 5 SNK807K2.

The gorgeous silver sensuality of the BMW Z8 in ‘The World Is Not Enough’ was, interestingly enough, the only BMW associated with Bond. Brosnan is the only Bond who had a BMW! The smooth style of the car is languidly reflected in the curves of the DKNY Women’s Chambers NY2212.

The green Bentley Mark IV figured for a very brief time on screen in ‘From Russia With Love’ and one of the reasons why it figures on this list is because it had a telephone! Something really unique, way back in 1963. You can call upon the Nixon Magnacon A079 Matte Black/Surplus A079-1042 for powerful presence.

Truly, ‘The World Is Not Enough’ when it comes to owning wristwatches that have the panache and style of James Bond but DiscountShop carries quite a few choices that should delight your sense of adventure and élan and a taste for the good things in life.
